Matthew 5:14 says, "You are the light of the world. A city on a hillcannot be hidden." The Hill is a worship gathering designed for all tofind rest and recharge through Christ and Community. Our heart is tocarry out God's mission to be the City on a hill that draws others toJesus Christ.
The Hill is a worship gathering put on by Baptist Student Ministry. In 1915, SMU relocated to Dallas Hall alongside a bank and barbershop. Dallas Hall was constructed on a hill. And this is how SMU became known as "The Hilltop."
The mission of Campus Crusade for Christ and the Baptist Student Ministry is to proclaim and live out the good news of Jesus Christ to SMU students in order to cultivate and mature a relationship with God. It is only in this relationship we find the healing, identity and life purpose for which we were created for.
Students will be restored through a relationship with Christ, finding their identity in him, in the context of living in community with one another.
They will then be sent out to participate in the reformation of their lives, families and community around them through mission and service.
"But reform...means that we see a certain thing out of shape and we mean to put it into shape. And we know what shape." G.K. Chesteron
We recognize that this work takes place only by the power of Christ. We seek to participate in Christ's work through evangelism, discipleship, local church involvement, and serving the community and the world.
